Rachel Geiger, Trustee
Rachel defines Springfield Township, born, raised, and educated in the community, married to Mark, also an SHS graduate and together they are parents of four successful SHS graduates. She and several of her family members have served our country (from 1986-1997 including her role as an Intelligence Operations Specialist for the 180th Air National Guard where Rachel provided and educated F-16 fighter pilots on current intelligence and technical capabilities to support their missions); she is also a nurse by profession and has achieved a high degree of professional success (she is a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant) and in her current role is responsible for leading a team to conduct recruitment, contracting and network adequacy reviews for Medicaid, Medicare, the American Care Act and Medicare-Medicaid Plan.
Elected service to Springfield Township residents began in 2015, when Rachel successfully won a position on the Springfield Local Schools Board of Education. She has served in several capacities, including as Board President, Vice President and as a representative to regional and statewide committees. Rachel has also served as an appointed member of several township committees, including the Joint Economic Development Zone (JEDZ) committee on which she will continue to serve as the Township’s elected representative.
In November 2023, she was elected to the position of Springfield Township’s Fiscal Officer and was eager to begin her service in March 2024. When former-Trustee Bob Bethel resigned in December 2023, the Trustees began a search for his replacement; Rachel’s knowledge of the community, her past and current committee work within the Township, wealth of critical thinking skills coupled with compassion for her fellow citizens revealed her the top candidate for the role.
On January 22, 2024, Rachel Geiger officially took her oath to serve Springfield Township residents as a Trustee.
Bob Klumm, Trustee
Bob Klumm’s service to the township can be seen in his exemplary record as a member of the Springfield Township Zoning Board since 2023, his multiple terms on the Zoning Board of a neighboring township prior to moving to Springfield, as well as possessing a vast amount of knowledge and experience in navigating the rules and regulations of numerous state and federal regulatory agencies.
Just like his fellow Trustees Thomas Anderson, Jr. and Rachel Geiger he was born and raised within the township and invests his time and talents within his community. His business, Klumm Brothers, began in 1989 when Bob and his brother Ron Klumm began the company, Klumm Brothers, as a landscaping business. The company which quickly developed into a full-service demolition and excavation company and has since expanded to include waste and professional services throughout Holland, Toledo, and Lucas County. According to Mr. Klumm, “The opportunity to serve my neighbors as a Township Trustee is one that I take very seriously. I respect each of the current Trustees and their work to improve Springfield Township.” Many are not aware that it is the third largest political subdivision in Lucas County and each work hard to meet the wants and needs of our 27,000+ residents, business leaders, and visitors. He continued, “While I am sure I have a great deal to learn, I also know I can take advantage of the wealth of experience provided by Tom, Rachel, Fiscal Officer Brenna Koback and the very qualified township staff.”
