Curious about what Township leaders have planned for the coming year? Our plans started on January 1st with the annual SPRINGFIELD SPLASH (select this link) and will continue through popular SUMMER SERIES 2026 activities, with several new additions! This year, the Trustees also announced that, in honor of the nation’s 250th Anniversary, proceeds from these events will benefit area organizations that support area veterans, youth, and preserving the history of the community. Primary organizations include: A.N.G.E.L.S. Outreach, Blessings in Disguise, the elementary afterschool running program coordinated by Dave’s Running Shop (right in Homecoming Park), Mountain Mentors, Springfield Schools student organizations, the Toledo Vet Center, and the Lee R. Irons Historic Center (in Holland, OH).
Feedback from so many told us how much fun was experienced last year – and we promise Summer Series 2026 will not disappoint! The Freedom Celebration will take place on June 27th – are you ready for the 3rd Annual Firecracker 5K? Runners and Walkers will blast off in Homecoming Park at 9am after a ceremony to honor America’s 250th Anniversary! Right after that, food trucks will arrive and our new outdoor concert series begins – Ignite the Night (featuring two of the regions top bands – Arctic Clam from 2:30-5:30pm and Not Fast Enuff from 7:30-9:45pm). During the musical break at 6pm, the 3rd Annual HEROhustle (better known to many as the “dinosaur race”) will feature area celebrities racing for charity in inflated dino suits. Fun, as well as goodies from favorite food trucks, family-oriented activities, and rides on the antique firetruck will fill the hours until we light up the night sky right after dusk!! The Village of Holland’s Market and Movie Night will take place in Strawberry Acres Park on July 24th and the exclamation point to this year’s Series will be the 7th Annual Wicked Wheels (August 5th).

*All events are possible thanks to generous community support! These partnerships assist Springfield Township in offering safe, family-oriented events and activities including the 21st Annual Freedom Celebration (now including the Firecracker 5K Run/Walk, Ignite the Night live music concerts, the HEROhustle, and one of the region’s largest fireworks displays), and the Wicked Wheels Fest.
