Parks

COMMUNITY HOMECOMING PARK is located at 7807 Angola Rd. and was purchased in 1995 from Community Homecoming Corporation (CHC) for $1. Grants from the State of Ohio were very instrumental in developing this 40 acre parcel. The Township’s Public Service Department  maintains the grounds, ball fields, and buildings. The park consists of 4 baseball/softball diamonds, soccer fields, a gazebo and shelter house that are rented by the public for special occasions, a playground, fishing pond, boardwalk and walking paths.

The soccer fields at Community Homecoming Park are home to SSA (Springfield Soccer Association) recreational league. They play every Fall and Spring with approximately 600 township kids participating each season.

The softball/baseball diamonds are home to STYBS (Springfield Township Youth Baseball Softball). They are primarily a summer recreational league but do sponsor some community travel teams as the kids get older and begin playing against other community teams in leagues such as SGS (Suburban Girls Softball) and SAWS (for boys). We also allow youth travel teams made up primarily of Springfield kids to utilize the fields as their home field as well.

In addition to these youth programs, Community Homecoming Park has become home annual tournaments such as the Cody Brown Memorial Tournament.

In addition to sports, this park hosts the Annual Strawberry Festival (sponsored by CHC) and Rollie Run each year in June as well as other community events.

LINCOLN GREEN PARK is located at 201 Shrewsbury Dr. in the Lincoln Green Subdivision. This 3 acre neighborhood park was opened to the public in 2006 and consists of a covered picnic area, benches, walking trail, and playground, and open green space.

CARMELLA GARDENS PARK is located at 6555 Danny Ln. in the Carmella Gardens Subdivision off Garden Rd. This neighborhood park is approximately 3 acres, was opened up to the public in October 2006 and consists of a covered picnic area, playground, and ball diamond.

BEAR CREEK PARK is a football field plus some additional space located behind 6645 Airport Highway and is used primarily by our little league football organizations for practices and games.
